Healing trauma with EMDR

I consider EMDR to be the most effective approach to trauma. And by trauma I mean ALL sorts of traumas, ranging from Big T traumas such as violence, abuse, war, natural disasters, to Small T traumas such the tiny little things that we have maybe heard our parents say or have seen adults do, that have created our belief systems. And of course EMDR is the most effective method for healing PTSD.

EMDR Therapy for healing trauma: Rewriting the narrative of your life

If you are here this means that you might be ready to embark on the trauma healing journey. So welcome to the transformative world of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy—a powerful modality that offers hope, healing, and profound transformation for anyone dealing with the lingering effects of trauma.

What are Big T and Small T Traumas?

Trauma comes in many forms, ranging from the overt brutality of physical assault to the subtle sting of emotional neglect. Big T traumas refer to significant events such as accidents, violence, abuse, war or natural disasters that shatter our sense of safety and security. On the other hand, small t traumas encompass seemingly minor incidents that, over time, accumulate and undermine our well-being as well as stipulate our belief system—such as rejection, humiliation, or chronic stress.

Understanding PTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a complex psychological condition that can develop in the aftermath of a traumatic event. Symptoms may include intrusive memories, flashbacks, hypervigilance, and emotional numbness, all of which can profoundly impact one's quality of life.

How EMDR works

EMDR works by harnessing the brain's natural capacity for healing and reprocessing traumatic memories. Through a series of bilateral stimulation techniques—such as eye movements, tactile sensations, or auditory tones, i guide my patients to access and process distressing memories in a safe and supportive environment.

Healing Big T and Small T traumas

Whether you're grappling with the aftermath of a major life-altering event or the cumulative weight of smaller, seemingly insignificant traumas, EMDR offers a pathway to healing and liberation. By accessing the neural networks associated with traumatic memories and integrating them with more adaptive information, EMDR helps to desensitize the emotional charge of past experiences and foster a sense of resolution and closure.

Transforming PTSD symptoms

For individuals struggling with the debilitating symptoms of PTSD, EMDR offers a beacon of hope and healing. By targeting the core memories and beliefs underlying PTSD symptoms, EMDR helps to dismantle the grip of trauma and pave the way for profound emotional and psychological transformation.

Whether you're seeking relief from PTSD symptoms, healing from past traumas, or simply longing to reclaim your sense of self, EMDR offers a safe and effective means of transformation.
